Huntly Town Board.
MONTHLY MEETING The usual monthly meeting of the Huntly Town Board was held on Thursday the 27th January, when Messrs J. P. Bailey (Chairman), Jas. Elliot, G. T. Horwood, and R. Greenwell were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence approved. Several Insurance Companies wi-ote offei’ing to insure the Power House. As all quoted the same rate, the matter was decideed by lot, the insurance being placed with the South British Co. A renewal of his Auctioneer’s License was granted to Jas. Elliot. Several letters of a rather indefinite nature-were received regarding the px-ovision of passenger carrying facilities on the Pukemiro line, but as the next letter was due from the Railway Department, the matter was allowed to stand over in the mean time. The Ngaruawahia Chamber of Commerce wrote asking co-op-eration and advice in the matter of getting direct telephone communication with Auckland. As Huntly already has direct communication it was decided that co-operation was impossible, but the Clerk had been instructed by the Chairman to write, giving all information possible. The Chairman’s action was approved. Several draft resolutions relating to' the Supplementary Loan were received from the Public Trust Officer, and duly passed. Accounts amounting to £96 17s 3d on the General Account and £369 Is 2d on Electric Lighting Loan Account, were passed for payment-.
