MINERS’ HALL—TO-NIGHT. A delightful programme will be screened this evening, headed by the Vitagraph mystery drama entitled “An Affair for the Police.” The feature is a detective story of an unusa] sort dealing with the upper classes in America, and remaining until the last scene a most fascinating puzzle. A good nautical drama entitled “ The Shoal Light ” supports the star, and a big variety of interest, topical and comedy subjects make up an attractive entertainment. The first heat of Charlie Chaplin contest which was unavoidably postponod from Tuesday, will also be acted. The audience will be the judges in the contest, and will receive voting tickets on entering the theatre. The impersonators are well-known local young men, and as a decent prize is offered the contests will prove very entertaining. For Saturday Mr Calder will screen that fine patriotic film “ A Hero of the Dardanelles.” This picture which is in 3 parts is an animated record of the deeds that won Gallipoli. It was taken by perftiission of the Australian Minister of Defence and with the whole hearted co-operated of the naval and military forces. It is a re-acting of the historic landing on Gallipoli in April last. Every man, woman and child should see this as it gives one an idea of what took place. In addition a full programme of the lalest. and best in all subjects will also be screened. A special ex era Keystone comedy featuring the popular Charlie Chaplin and Roscoe Arbuckle entitled “ Thp Knockout,” will also be shown which will extend the laughing faculties to the utmost.
