November, 1915. Dear Sir, I enclose herewith a Subscription List on behalf of the N.Z. Engineer’s Tunnelling Company now in camp at Avondale. A “ Regimental Fund is required: such a Fund would enable the Commander or Chaplain to piovide those little comforts thataie really necessities, which they would not otherwise receive, and the value of which cannot be over-estimated. _ It is thought that their former fellow-workers will be anxious to mark their appreciation ol the patriotic spirit evinced by these men by assisting to provide diis Fund In addition, therefore, to appealing to your Company itself for a donation, I would ask you to kindly bring this list to the attention cf your employees If each man would give, say, half-a-crown, it would amount to a goodly sum. . . As the time of their training is rapidly closing, will youkuully return the lists as soon as possible —say not later than Zbt.i November. Cheques should be made payable to the Commandant N.Z. Engineers’ Tunnelling Company,” and forwarded to the address below. Messrs Murray Wiseman, Edward Grimwade, and It. b. Newcomb have kindly consented to serve as a Committee to collect fund. Yours faithfully, J. H. GUNSON, Mayor ot' Auckland. Address all letters to : Tunnelling Go., Fund Committee, c/o J. Wiseman & Sons Ltd., Albert Street, AUCKLAND.
