Methodist Bazaar.

The above function took place in the Masonic Hall on Friday and Saturday last. Two ladies’ committes had been working steadily for several months, and the large display of neat, serviceable garments, together with the fine show of fancy goods, spoke highly of the industry and skill of the workers. A sweet stall, held a conspicuous place, both in the hall, and in the affections of the shoppers. The doll stall was seldom without admiring girlish eyes, and even more elderly persons feeling the stir of ancient instinct were seen to cast upon it benign glances. The inevitable afternoon tea was daintily set out in the ante-room, and greatly appreciated by the ladies. The bran tub provided for the child-love of the mystical, and being without ary blanks was well patronised by the small people, while the miniature rifle-range and bag-a-telle gave the men a chance to show their ability or otherwise The stalls were presided over by the following ladies : Plain Mes dames Hooker, Geary, Carlyon, and Miss Jones. Fancy —Mrs W. Knapper, Misses Pickworth, Greener, O. Sutton. Doll—Misses Simpson and M. Leather. Sweets —Misses Hooker, Mayland, Sutton. Refreshment Mesdames Bennie, F. Knapper, Gleeson and Sutton. Flowers —-Misses Holden. The Misseß Greener, Morgan, Fraser, Gardiner (2), Bright, Landon, Easton, Gleeson and Sutton and others assisted in vaiious ways. The competitions went off with a swing. The bride-doll (smartly dressed and mounted by Miss Evans) was won by Miss Hooker. The hat trimming gave much amusement to the onlookers; the result proved Mr Bright to be the expert Modicle. As an appreciation of the ladies’ efforts, the men of the church, tendered them a complimentary social in the church on Wednesday evening.
