Hibernian Social
A very successful social and dance was held in the Miners’ Hall on Wednesday evening last in aid of the Siclc and Wounded Soldies Fund. The function was well attended. The music as provided by the Huntly Orchestra was right up-to-date, and the floor also contributed to the success of the evening. Vocal items were rendered during the evening by the foiling ladies and gentlemen Mrs Coan, Miss Bartle, Miss Russell, and Messrs N. Berry J. Wesley (jr.)., and a duet by Misses G. Berry and Vera Russell. Great interest was taken in guessing the weight of a fine iced cake. The nearest competitioners being Miss L. Rae, and Messrs Burt and Ralph all of whom gave the same weight and in the draw Miss Rae was successful.
The refreshments provided by the ladies was all that could he desired. The social was kept up until the small hours, when the dancers dispersed tired, but well satisfied with their evening's amusement.
Messrs J. Budge and F. J. Farrel were assiduous in their their attentions as M.O’s.
