Mr H. D. Crump, dentist, notifies in another column that his hours in Huntly are: Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a service for men in St. Paul’s Church on Sunday next at. 3 p.m. The subject will be *' What Saves a Man’s Soul.” All men are cordially invited. The Public Works Department in another column notify by Proclamation dated August 13th, 1915, that roads described in the schedule have been stopped by the Department. On Saturday, September 18th, a special tr in will be run from Auckland, Taumarunui, and intermediate stations for Rotorua, leaving Frankton at 7.40 a.m., and Auckland at 10.0 a.m. A Vaudeville benefit entertainment will be given in the Miners’ Hall on October sth,by the Pickaninny Coons, assisted by the Lyceum Picture Co., in aid of the Sick and Wounded Fund.
Father McCarthy, who recently carried out a series of mission services both at Huntly and Ngaruawahia, has been accepted as one of the Chaplains to serve with the troops at the Dardanelles. The Auckland Dairy Produce Committee has fixed the wholesale price for butter and eggs for the week ending September 18th, as follows: Factory butter, Is 3d; farmer’s separator and dairy butter, lOd; eggs, Is per dozen.
The number of cheese factories in the Dominion has risen to 327, no fewer than 26 having been added to the total during the past year ; and it is estimated that from 30 to 40 changes from buttermaking to cheesmaking will be made within the next few months. —Argus. At the Police Court on Monday, before Messrs J. P. Bailey and E. F. Farrell J. P’s. James Downey was convicted of having been drunk and disorderly, and using obscene language on Saturday night last, and was sentenced to two months hard labour. He was ordered to appear before the stipendiary magistrate for having in his possession liquor while subject to the currency of a prohibition order. The Town Board expects to commence operations at the Power House Site in a few days time. As a matter of fact, a quantity of material has already been carted on to the ground, and everything is in train for the commencement of the laying of the foundations of the walls and engine bed.
A social and dance is to he held in the Miners’ Hall on November Bth by the combined Loyal Orange Lodges, No. 80 Star of Auckland South and No. 6 Daughters of the Boyne Ladies Lodge. Supper will be provided at 10 p.m. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Sick and Wounded Fund. On Labour Day, October 28th, the Lodges will hold a combined picnic (weather permitting) going by motor launch eight miles up the Waikato River.

Soper, is obliged to sell the effects and furnishings of that well-known and select Boarding House, Leicester House, so successfully carried oil by him for many years. The furniture is in first class condition, of a varied nature, and is equal to new, and at the auction sale which begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, 25th September, residents have a chance to secure bargains that in their own interests they should not miss.
