Farewell and Presentation.

TO MR. A. BURT. A very pleasant and enjoyable evening was spent in the Supper Room of the King’s Hall last Tuesday evening when the officials of the Taupiri Coal Mines gathered together for the purpose of bidding farewell to one of their fellow officials, Mr A. Burt, who is severing his connection with the Taupiri Company, having been promoted to the position of mine manager of the Pukemiro, Colliery Co., Ltd. Mr W. Woods, manager of the Extended Mine, occupied the chair, and songs and recitations punctuated by the different toasts, the most important of which was “ Our Boys at the Front,” was the order of the evening. During the course of function the chairman called on Mr A. Penman (to make a presentation to the guest in the shape of a handsome gold mounted fountain pen. In the course of his remarks Mr Penman emphasised the qualities of Mr Burt, not only as ar official of the company, but as a citizen, at the same time wishing him every prosperity in his new venture. Mr Burt, in a neat little speech, suitably responded and thanked all those present for the kind words expressed. The departing official commences his new duties with the Pukemiro Company on tho 23rd inst, and carries witll him the well-wishes of a large circle of Huntly friends.
