TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —In your issue of tlio 30th July, Mr A. Jamieson has told the readers of your paper at a meeting I was the only desentient, and the letter I wrote was unworthy of notice, and yet he noticed it so much that it caused him to reply to it. I think the readers are competent enough to judge for themselves. This unpleasantness I am accused ef causing was for the benefit of others, personally I have nothing to lose or gain. I am, etc. THOS. TAPP. Sir, — In your issue of the 30th July, Mr Leek trusts some abler pen than his could take the matter up, I trust this will help him, as I see by his letter, he is given to mistakes or very forgetful. He says it Was not his remark about Mr Jamieson, that aroused me, but about my brother. I was not aroused, but as Mr Leek has gone off the point, I will remind him of what was said. When the meeting started my brother took notes, Mr Leek got up and made a little speech asking that my brother should leave the room as he is too smart for us poor farmers. Mr Furniss objected, again Mr Leek, not to be beat, got up and asked that he should .not be allowed to take notes and asked that it should go by show of hands, which was put and carried by Mr and Mrs Leek and Mr and Mrs Nailer. It was then that Mr Leek asked Mr Carson to take notes, so you see that one side was to have assistance and the other not. I am etc. THOS. TAPP.
