Benefit Concert.
A very successful concert and dance to provide part of a wherewithal to pay for the ne .v scenery in the Miners’ Hall,held on Wednesday evening last, being promoted by the Huntly Orchestra and Minstrel Troupe.
The hall was well filled with an appreciative audience. The corner-men Messrs Budge, Stow, and Wesley, kept the audience in a roar of laughter, and were very much appreciated. The overtures by the Orchestra Society were rendered in the usual efficient and pleasing manner, and did credit to Huntly. During the evening songs were acceptedly rendered by Misses Bartle, Stone, and Messrs Robson, Stokes, Wood, Wesley, Stow and Jones. A clog dance by Mr J. Roberts, Sailors’ Hornepipe by Mr & Miss Hatton, violin solo by McLachlan, an 1 Euphonium solo by Mr Clark, were also well received. The whole affair was under the able conductorship of Mr H. Farrimond assisted by Mr J. Brooks, who acted as stage manager. During the evening, Mr Melling, on behalf of tl.e Hall Committee, conveyed to the Orchestra and Minstrel Troupe, most hearty thanks for the valuable aid given.
