Sick and Wounded Fund.
In reply to many enquiries the Ladies Committe wish the public to know that they were officially appointed by the Town Board to collect subscriptions on behalf of the above funds. They have organized a comprehensive campaign and confidently appeal to the people of Huntly for support. Already, the men who left our shores but a few months ago, are falling on the battlefields of Europe, after having fought with unsurpassed bravery and dash, and there is scarcely anyone in the Dominion who has not seen the name of a relative or friend on the casualty lists. The claim therefore upon the generosity of all is not only national but personal and even domestic. Our sick and wounded claim the very best and the very most that we can do for them, and it only needs to be thoroughly understood by all that their contributions are being devoted to this purpose, to make them respond even to the degree of largely curtailing their own pleasures. The Ladies’ Relief Committee are therefore, in addition to collecting, which has been responded to liberally, promoting a school girls Social on Tuesday July 13th and a Social in the Miners Hall cn July 19th with a Patriotic Concert later
