School Attendance.

Mr Small, Truant Officer for the Board of Education, spent two days in the town this week. He visited the public school, examined the attendance registers and made searching enquiries in to the attendance of irregular children. For the benefit of those who are ignorant of the law relating to school attendance, it may be as well to mention that, unless the absence is certified by a medical practitioner as necessary, the parent is liable to a fine of ten shillings for every day or day a child is absent.
