The Belgian Fund

An additional donation of 5s has been received from Miss Heron for the above fund. It is to be feared that this fund has been lost sight of in the eagerness of people to contribute to the Hospital Ship Fund, but we would like to remind our readers that this Fund is still going on, and must go on as long as there is distress among the Belgians, and that will probably be till the end of the war. It wilj be remembered that the Dominion is committed to a monthly contribution of £35000 of which voluntary subscriptions are expected to produce £I2OOO. The various parts of the Dominion have been asked to contribute on a population basis, and in a former issue, we showed that Huntly’s contribution) in this basis would be approximately £l3 per month. We would suggest that, as this contribution is to be a periodical one, it would be a sensible plan for people to make their contributions periodical also. They will probably be able to give more with less inconvenience to themselves and be much more helpful to the Fund. A shilling a week, continued for a year, is much better than a pound given in one sum. Subscriptions on this, or any other basis, will gladly be received by collectors or at the Town Board Office.
