Huntly Rod and Gun Club

A Meeting of the above Club was field in the committee-room adjoining the Miners’ Hall on Wednesday, June 2nd, Mr E. J. Farroll presiding.

After the confirmation of minutes of last meeting, the following members were duly elected: on committee : W. Birt, W. Raynor, J. Hillock, and F. Raynor, to act in conjunction with T. Stephenson, T. Brooklrbank. M. Keleher, and T. Partridge. A general discussion took place in referonce to a general gun license and that it should lie

imposed on all shooters of imported game and that the subject should be dealt with by delegates attending the conference of Acclimatization Societies to be held in Wellington August s'h. 1915, also that parent societies be instructed to assist country clubs by acclimatizing swamp birds such as plover, snipe, etc., and also make every effort to produce partridge, grou-e, and wood cock so that license holders will get something equivalant to thepound which they freely give also it will be the means of increasing the revenue, partridge wood cock etc. to be liberated on estates where they wifi get protection to increase and mutiply for one or two seasons. The following resolution was moved by Duncan Bullock, and seconded by T. Partridge: That this meeting of the Huntly Rod and Gun Club highly appreciates th% offer of Mr Dennis Healey’s trophy of Mounted Stag’s Head on condition that the club meets part of expense of mountings etc., was carried unanimously, when arrangements for open handicap was left in the hand of Shooting Committe for its disposal. That a novice match takes place at an early date and that and that a suitable trophy be acquirjqs for aarne. Sgiat the secretary be authorised to interview Mr Bailey or Green and Colebrook for conditions govirning the cup, presented by Nobel’s Limited, now at the Huntly PRESS Office. .
