Huntly Road Board

MONTHLY MEETING. The adjourned monthly meeting of the Huntly Road Board was held on Saturday last, Messrs Bailey, Harris, and Thompson being present. The first business of the meeting was the election of a chairman for the year current. On the motion of Mr Harris, seconded by Mr Thompson, Mr Bailey was re-elected. Mr Bailey returned thanks for the,honour conferred on him, and hoped that the samo cordial relations which had always characterised the work of the Board would continue. A letter from Ohtnewai settlers complaining of the blocking of a landing by the felling of willows by the Waikato River Board, was received, and the Clerk was instructed to write the River Board asking that the obstruction ba removed. It was decided that a fist of applications for grants be sent in to the District Engineer of Public Works. The Chairman reported that ho and Mr Harris had opened tenders for carting metal on the Great South Road as follows : F. Friendship, 2s, and 3s for patching. D. Suttie, 2s 4d, and 3s 9d for patching. And that they had accepted the lowest tender. Their action was endorsed by the Board. Accounts amounting to £176 4s 6d were passed for payment.
