Hibernian Social
The social which was organised by the Hibernians and held in the Miners’ Hall on Monday evening last, for the purpose of assisting the Convent School financially, was not attended up to expectations, this being due, no doubt, to the number of other functions taking place this week. During the evening the Rev. Father O’Doherty thanked those present for their kind attendance. The music, as supplied by Mr and Mrs W. Darby was all that could be desired, while the extras were efficiently played by Mr Boyle and Miss Prendergast. Miss Bartle, who was in excellent form, greatly pleased the audience with her rendering of “ Barney, Take Me Home Again,” an old Irish favourite. The Ms’ C, Messrs Farrell and Berry, carried out their duties thoroughly, while the ladies’ did all in their power to make the function a sucee s.
