Roil of Honour.

The first of the Huntly men to give his life for his country is Private Arthur W. McQuillan who diad of wounds received in the fight at the Dardanelles.

Private McQuillan was very well known here, having resided here practically all his life. At one time he worked at the mine, but at the outbreak of the war he was employed by A. Gall and Son of Ohinewai. He was among the the first to volunteer, and went to Egypt with the First Contingent. No particulars are to hand as to the particular battle in which he was wounded but no doubt it was in the operations involved in the landing on Turkish soil. The sympathy of a very large circle of friends goes out to Mr and Mrs McQuillan who have, also the consolation that their son has given his life in a righteous and noble cause.
