School Committes.
Small interest waß shown in the School Committe Elections this year. In a great many cases, only the inquired number of candidates was nominated and where contests took place, the polling was very light. At Huntly the voting was as follows: — Mrs Richards ... 19 Jas. Elliot ... 18 Mrs Porter ... 15 Mrs L. B. Harris, jr., 15 Mrs Elliot ... 15 A. G. Eraser ... 18 H. R. Porter ... 16 E. W. Ruston ... 15 C. Starr ... 16 Mrs Mathews ... 13 J. McNee ... 6 The first nine were declared duly elected. Mr J. Elliot was elected Chairman and A. Fraser Secretary and Treasurer. AtOhinewai, only five householders turned up and they formed themselves into a Committee as follows: — Messrs E. Foster, (Chairman) M. Welsh (Secretary), W. F. Parker, R. Waugh, and F. Harris. The following commitee was elected on Wednesday evening last for the Kimihia School : Messrs John Holland (chairman), Richard Perry' (secretary and treasurer), Jonathan Valentine, David Conn and Albert Jenkins.
