Correspondence
TO THE EDITOR. Dear Misther Edither, —I av wotched with much iothrest, the konterversy betwin the ould Mowri, Koroheke, and those q.uarq. fellers Romeo, and Tweededum and Tweededee. I think the ould feller wuz a bit fulish to shtart the game, and no dout by this toime hez had enuff, but Idu think thuther fellers av played it low down, becos they didunt shticlc to the pint of the argymqnt. but wanthered orl over the plase, fruin won sid of the river to thuther, and sevrel toirnes hit pur ould chap bio the belt.
That feller Romeo is just makin game of the ould man, and I don’t think its right fer the yung and harty to go nockin ther seniors about. Ho dout the ould man wuz in ernest about the coortin cuppels, hut praps he wuz mistakn in thinkin tha wanted iplases tu hide in. Frum wot I’ve sin, sum ov the gurls like to sho ther bos orf, and in a plase kontanin so many luvly gurls as Huntly, it wud be strange if the yuug fellers wuz not proud to sho orf the gurls wot had shon such a prefrense fer them.
But ennyiiow,’ the ould mans ideer wuz a gud won no matta wat its mortives wer, ancli listed of chihackitf an ould .feller with won fut in the grav and thuther cloring at’the edge, it wud be better to kom out and hed a muvmten for the butifying uf our ugly ould Town. Thez a lot uv pap’.e in this Town hoo kud du a lot to help the plase along, but that av no go in them. Tha just think uv.ther own komfert and nuthin mor. Me and my old woman ud help, but if we kame out as leeders, wudent peple larf. But lat others git the shtart 'and we wud wurrk hard to push the job along.., Misther Edither, cudent yer tel these fellers tu leve' ould ICorokekealon insted uvshpendin ther toime hunfcin for onkonsidereed troifels dropped by young peple bound up in won arrothers arrms, .let thiiu go round and shtirup the promirilfent citizens h >o ort to be wurrkiqg. for the gud of the town. m„... -A./, I don’t think , Oh eras another town in the vvorjdd wer peple take so much lutljoßt in thimselves.’and so llitfe J%the public afairs. ■' Hit em up Mr Edfjpr, and sea if yer kant jnak ’ thjm a bit shamed of themselves, and plese don’t let ennybody sa enh'ytping back at me, bec'os I’m a vilent man, and ma dusum damage at yer ofis. With good intinsliuns, I remain, yors truly, Mick Maginnihy.
