Sunday School Teachers Picnic.
The Annual Sunday School Teachers Picnic was held as usual on Easter Monday, a large party of the teachers and their friends leaving the Punt Landing at 10 a.m., for Lake Waikare. The journey down stream was accomplished in very good time and by twelve o’clock, the difficult passage through tire shallows of the Lake had been safely negotiated, and the party landed near TeKawhata Point. The spot chosen for the Picnic was an ideal one, having plenty of shelter and a nice grassy flat for games etc. The fiiwjt busitu* o:i landing was to ®oil the "Willy! preparatory to satisfying the cravings of the inner man, which had been accentuated by the exhilarating trip down in the launch. After lunch, the younger memberss of the party indulged in games of various kinds, while the olders ones strolled about through wattle plantations,-and enjoyed the splendid view to be obtained of the Lake and its surroundings. At four o’clock a further onslaught was made on the commisariat, and then all was bustle to get away so that the launch might be steered through the shallow places before darkness came on. Although the start was rather late, the .difficult places were safely negotiated, thanks to the excellent knowledge of the River possessed by Mr H. R. Porter who had charge of the boat. The return journey was enlivened by much singing and reciting, and it was indeed a a jovial parly that landed at about 7 p.m. tired, no doubt, but thoroughly satisfied with their outing.
