Huntly Town Board
The regular} monthly meeting of the Huntly Town Board was held last evening, Messrs J. P. Bailey (chairman), Jas. Elliot, G. T. Horwood, and R. Greenwell being present. The question of erecting saleyards on the west side of the river was further discussed. The members present recognised that the establishment of the saleyards would be cf great benefit to the district, but as the proposed site was well outside the boundaries of the Town District, and as it is impossible at the present moment to raise money, it was decided that nothing could be done until matters righted themselves; In accordance with notice of motion, Mr Elliot moved " That the Board now consider the desirability of extending the boundaries of the district and forming the enlarged qrea into a Borough." The motion was fully discussed, and it was found that, from every point of view it was desirable that the district should take a ferward step. The question of a new boundary was then discussed and as the information on this head before the Board was very meagre, a sub-com-mittee, consisting of the Chairman Mr Elliot and the Clerk, was appointed to go into the matter and to report to a future meeting. Mention was made of the death of Mr John Bollard, father of Mr R. F. Bollard, the member for the District. A motion of sympathy and condolence was passed by the members standing in silence.
Accounts amounting to £lO4 9s 9d were passed for payment
