Obituary.
It is with great regret that w T e record the death of Mr Geo. A. James, who for some years and up to a few months ago was a resident of Huntly, and who passed away at Hamilton on Tuesday last. Mr James came to Huntly as clerk to Mr G. M. Fraser, at the commencement of the Huntly Bridge contract, and resided here continuously up till a few months ago, when he was taken to Hamilton Hospital, suffering from the disease which eventually caused his death. Besides his work for Mr Fraser, Mr James exercised his profession as an architect, and the School of Mines Building and several houses which were built under his supervision, testify to his ability and conscientious work in this direction.
During his residence in Huntly Mr Janies made a great many friends. He was a man with sterling" character, upright in his dealings, true and conscientious in his relations with all, and most obliging. In short he was a ‘ white man ” and his many friends will mourn his loss most sincerely. Mr James leaves a wife to mourn his loss, and the heartfelt sympathy of a very large circle of irindsgoes out to Mrs James in her great bereavement. When the announcement of his death was received on Tuesday, it took most people by surprise, for Mr James had been out of the Hospital for some weeks and hopes were entertained of his ultimate recovery, but a relapse occurred and he passed away as above. The interment took place at Hamilton, a large number of friends assembling to show the last signs of respect to the deceased.
