M r McKay, late secretary of the Taupiri Miners’ Union, was on a visit to the town during the ; week. Mrs W, Shilton, senr. of Huntly West, who was taken to the ] Hamilton hospital last week, is progressing favourably. Master Willie Peckham, who went under an operation a few 1 weeks ago, arrived home on Tuesday night, and is progress- 1 ing satisfactorily. Mrs. W. Delaney, of Newstead, : who has not been too well lately, ; has been spending four or five days with her mother, Mrs. J. i Darby. i “ King” Te Rata, who has been j suffering severely from rheumatic gout, and who left Huntly on Monday to attend a large meeting of natives at Te Kuiti, returned home yesterday. Miss. M. Dean, who had the misfortune to upset a bottle of carbolic acid, receiving some of the liquid in the corner of one of * her eyes, causing her consider- , able pain for two or three jja'ys, has now recovered and isaikput her work again. oF
