Taupiri Miners’ Union.
At a special and well attended meeting of the Miners’ Union held in the Miners’ Hail on Monday night, Mr J. Wesley presiding, the appointment of the office-bearers elected, and the resolutions passed, at the annual meeting were confirmed. As several speakers asserted “on good authority” that attempts were made to form a “ bogus ” union in antagonism to that already existing, the secretary was instructed to despatch the following telegram to the Minister of Labour (the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey): “We emphatically protest against the attempt of a few individuals to form a bogus union here. We strongly oppose registration.” In ’ due course Mr Massey replied as follows : Telegram received. [ am making enquiries into the matter.”
