Huntly School Committee.
r The usual monthly meeting of the Huntly School Committee was held on Wednesday evening 1 when there were present I- Mesd anus Elliot, Harris junr., r and Richards, Messrs. G. T. " Horvvood, H. R. Porter, and C. ■ | Starr. In ti e absence of the e ! chairman Mr H. R. Porter | presided. j The minutes of the previous 3 meeting were confirmed as read. I The Head-teacher’s report for 3 the month of September showed t the average attendance to .have f been 331.1 and the roll number 384, the corresponding figures 3 for the three months ended 30th. ■ September being 332.5 and 371.5 5 respectively. s The Secretary of the Board of 3 Education, under date 15th. 3 October, in reply to the com- * mittee’s letter, stated that the 1 Board could not see its way to ’» instal a septic tank system of s j drainage at the school, while the * necessary repairs would be » j carried out by the foreman 1 who would visit the school t j in the course of a few days. Horwood thought the 1 ! refusal of the Board to instal a 1 debent system of drainage was | no*t in accordance with modern J | ideas. The present system was * ouf of date and unsatisfactory, * and he moved that the sanitary ' inspector be asked to visit the : school and report on the system in vogue. Seconded by Mr Starr, ~ , motion was unanimously ; cariiied.
