Public Works Statement.

LOCAL VOTES. The Public Works statement as presented to Parliament last Tuesday night by the Hon. Wm. Fraser, contained proposals for the following votes to be expended during the coming year on railways, roads and bridges in this district t RAILWAYS. Huntly-Awaroa Line. It is hoped by the ensuing summer to have the rails laid to the junction with j the Pukemiro Collieries line. I As the work? now in hand I draw to a close, it is proposed to continue operations on this line i in the direction of the Burnt | Bridge. I The expenditure upon the railway and bridge during last financial year amounted to £16,503, and for the current year a vote of £30,000 is proposed.
