Mr Snowden will deliver an address on Sunday afternoon in in the Miners’ Union Hall at 2.30 p.m. The annual meeting of the Huntly Tennis Club will be held in the Public Library at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday evening next. In consequence of the visit of the School Inspector on the 6th inst., the Michaelmas holidays ’ have been postponed. The total amount realised at the auction sale, held last Saturday, in aid of the Mine Disaster Relief Fund was £B4 odd. A trucker, accused of smoking in the Extended Mine, will appear before Mr Rawson at the next sitting of the S.M. Court. The attendane at the recent inquest showed that the accommodation in the court house is mo%t inadequate, while the seating leaves much to bo desired. As a consequence of the intro- , * duction of the safety lamp, the output from the Extended Mine has not been up to the average, though as the week proceeded the results became better. In another column of this issue an advertisement dealing - with the calling of tenders for the carting of material and the erection of the Ohinewai Sale b Yards. i Mr T. S. Webster is organising I a concert in Hamilton in aid of the Relief Fund. The Mayor of Hamilton will preside, and Miss Turner (contralto) and Mr J. E. Hamill (baritone) will assist. Immediately after arriving in 4 Huntly on Tuesday, Professor Dixon, Messrs Reed, Boyd Bennie & Co., and J. Tunks, made an inspection of Ralph’s mine under the guidance of Messrs —W. Wood and Bishop. A public meeting is to be held in the Miners’ Hall on Sunday evening, when the speakers will be Messrs P. C. Webb, M.P., and H. E. Holland.
