Mr Fletcher, send is at present on a visit to Huntly. Messrs E. W. Tattley and W Dunn, mine-managers, left for liikurangi at the end of last week. . Influenza has invalided Mr H A. Clinch, who has been confined to the house for the pa l tten days Mr and Mrs D. Wear left on Saturday for Te Aroha where they spent a brief holiday. Messrs P. C. Webb and J. Robertson, members of Parlia ment for Grey and Otaki re spectively, were in the mining town during the week. Mr Rawson, S. M., is still very lame, his knee not having re covered from the. effects of th< accident he sustained some tim; ago. Mr J. Carmody is organising i dramatic corps that will make it? debut*shortly in the King’s Hal at an entertainment that wil be given in conjunction with Mi Briton’s Empress Pictures. T. Black left last Monday to assume the duties of his new position in Auckland. Mr* Black followed on Wednesday. They carry with them the Vtjrv best wishes of a large circle o friends. ” Kingi ” Te Rata is expectei to arrive in Hpntly early nex week, and to give him a righ ” royal ” welcome his follower; have already commenced to as semble at Waahi. It will be interesting to hear Te Rata’; impressions of the Old Country. The legal profession was wel represented at the inquest- hell before Mr Rawson, S.M., or Wednesday and Thursday There were present Mr Macassar. Grown Prosecutor, Wellington Mr C. J. Tanks, Auckland; Mi Napier, Auckland ; Mr E. H. Northeroft, Hamilton ; a.nd Mi J. Robertson, Huntly. Inspoctor Wright, of Hamilton wlro of late has been constantly in Huntly in connection wit! the recent disaster, conducted the case for the police at the inquest in a manner so clear, si able, and so free from technicalities, that his masterly elucidation of all the facts materia: to the issue excited the admiration of all who wore-present. Great regret has been expressed over the approaching departure of the Rev. J. T. McWilliain who intends, to devote his talents and energies t c the development of that. Maori Mission WoriTm ISflUJrrire-- is, and has tor many years, been sc intensely interested. His successor as vicar of the large and scattered Huntly-cum-Ngarua-wahlaparish will be the Rev. J. Kay 11.
