Correspondence.
WHILE it is our endeavour to give correspondents every facility for the free expression of their opinion, it should be borne in mind that the views expressed do not, necessarily, reflect the opinions of the Editor. TO THE EDITOR. Slß,—Having read ‘‘Eyes Front” and ‘‘Up Guards,” let-, ters in previous issues, and while admitting that their ideas are on sound practical lines, at the same time I would like to point out ,that they could give effect to their suggestions by enrolling in the Local Rifle Club, of the existence of which a good number of the inhabitants of Huntly are in ignorance. Though formed a good few months ago. this club has never advanced beyond the embryo stage, until a few weeks ago, when it came to light under the protecting wing of the Defence Authorities and when members were sworn in and measured for uniforms, etc. However, the club seems to have slipped back into obscurity again, “ It may* be for years and it may be for ever,” awaiting the arrival of the toggery. Having seen,' smart British regiments most of whom were attired in kilts improsised from oat sacks, with 801 b stamped on the rear and dubbefl the 80th Highland Brigade, it is quite obvious that uniforms are not a necessary adjunct to the active service qualities of the wearer, therefore, it is to be hoped that our genial president will get a wriggle on and persuade the Defence Department to provide us with the means to make ourselves efficient in the shape of the shooting irons and of the pills to fit same, when we will he able to get going on the lines advocated by “Eyes Front,” “Up Guards,” and others who hold similar views. Your etc., HAD SOME.
