Mrs C. Maxwell returned on Monday night after a brief visit to Coromandel. Mi' and Mrs G. A. James, Ralph Street, left for Hamilton and Rotorua by Monday’s express. At the meeting- of the Auckland Board of Education held on Wednesday Miss W.M.Woodford was appointed to the Huntly School as temporary assisant, while the name of Miss, O. M. Jory was forwarded to the Birkdale school committee for approval as assisant. The punt service having- been practically discontinued, Mr and Mrs C. Betteridge left for ICaukapakapa by Wednesday’s express. It is Mr Betteridge’s intention to take up farming. While in charge of the punt his unfailing courtesy and helpfulness were highly appreciated by the many patrons who so uuanimously regret his departure.
