—ALLEGED DESERTERS Eugene McCarthy and Robert Lloyd, who were arrested on Tuesday, were charged with having deserted from the R.M.S. Delphic. The police asked for a remand in order that the accused might appear next day at the Auckland Magistrate's Court to answer to the charge. The remand was granted. Progress is being made with the brick front of the School of Mines in Raynor’s Road.
