Taupiri.
The Taupiri Junior Football team met the Moehaka team at Taupiri last Saturday week, and had rather an easy victory by seventeen points to nil. This now places Taupiri in the lead for the junior contest. The seniors by their victory over Huntly have now won the contest outright. The third round results can make no difference Mr Jas. Freest, an old and respected resident of Orini, died rather suddenly last week, through bursting a blood-vessel. The funeral took place at the Taupiri Cemetory last Sunday and was attended by all the settlers roun 1, thus showing the universal respect in which the deceased was held. Mr Preest leaves a grown up family of six sons and one daughter. The Bishop of the Diocese, Rev. Dr. Aveiill, held a Confirmation Service in Christ Church, Taupiri, oil Friday 19 th inst. There were candidates from Huntly, Ngaruawahia and Taupiri, the service being well attended. The Vicar, the Rev. J. T. McWilliam, also was present. The collection was in aid of the Home Mission Lund.
