In its numerous rivers and lakes New Zealand possesses a splendid asset, and, were these systematically stocked with suitable fish not, only would they afford capital sport but food of great nutritious and economical value. The lakes in the Thermal district teem with fish, and there is no reason why the Waikato river and the numerous lakes connected with it should not be equally prolific. Experiments of the kind are costly', but such could be avoided, if the knowledge and advice of an expert like the Professor were listened to and acted upon.
