Huntly Athletic Club.

—<> A NEW INSTITUTION. A. meeting of those interested in athletics was held in the King’sTlall on Wednesday evening when, in accordance with notice previously givqn, those connected with tlie recent sports meeting resolved to form themselves into an athlejac club, the main objects of the institution being to foster and encourage all kinds of athletic sports and t > acquire, if possible, a piece of land of area sufficient to subserve the various purposes required, the motion being proposed and seconded by Messrs J. Clout and H. Hulme respectively, and carried unanimously. Officebearers for the ensuing year wore elected as follow: — Patrons : the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, M. P., Messrs R. Bolard, M. P., E. W. Allison, L. B. Harris, senr., and W. J. Ralph ; President, Mr L. B. Harris, junr ; Secretary, Mr S. Dixon; Treasurer, Mr M. Kirkwood ; Executive Committee, Messrs J.Boycl, J Clout, J. Elliot, J. Gilmour, T, Briton, H. Hulme, .J. Havlock, J. Robertson and C. Starr, Mr J. Elliot being elected chairman. The question of a ground suitable for a public recreation ground was fully discussed with the result that the secretary was instructed to write to the Town Board asking that body to assist the movement by taking such steps as would be necessary to acquire ground of sufficient area for the purpose. It was decided to hold the next sports meeting on Saturday, 6th December, and that, in order to raise the nucleus of a fund, the action of the secretary who had obtained from the Minister of Internal Affairs a permit to hold a raffle of works of art to be drawn on August sth, was endorsed. For the same purpose an entertainment committee was set up, the personnel of such being Messrs H. Hulme, D. Suttie, G. Allen, J. Boyd, and the secretary. The compilation of the sports piograme was left to Messrs Briton, Clout, Elliot, Robertson and the Secretary.
