The action of the programme committee was endorsed, while the ; various reports were approved as highly satisfactory. The : secretary intimated that, judging by the acceptances, the fields would bo largo, and that, as the handicapping had made the various events very open, the 1 contests should prove both keen' and exciting. The official programme, now in the hands of ; the printers, would be ready for . sale on Friday night, and as it would contain all information required by spectators and competitors, Mr Dixon anticipated a ready sale. The applications for space for side shows had been numerous, and their occupation by the various holders would add to the general interest, as any gaps in in the programme could he filled by a visit to these. The chairman impressed on the various committees and stewards the necessity for each one attending to the particular duties allotted, and in that way ensure order and*avoid overlapping. It was expected that the Brass Band and the Pipers would assemble at the King’s Hall, and play on the way to the Recreation Ground where the members of committee, the stewards and the officials would meet at 11 a.m. The secretary intimated that the officials of the Auckland League wore likely to attend in force, and that a large influx Fof visitors might bo expected, pated.
