Hantly Sports.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS-. The usual weekly meeting of the Huntly Sports Committee was held on Wednesday night when there was a capital attendance. Mr Dixon intimated that donations in cash totalling over .£7O had been received and duly-ac-knowledged by him, while tropics had been forwarded in considerable nun bets, while many athletes of repute have signified their intention to compete. The donation of six guineas for a Highland Dancing Competition as given by the Scots Society wai highly appreciated, the committee showing its gratitude by holding the competition on the Sports Ground, and by adding to the programme a bag-pipes competition, the first and second prizes for which were allocated at five guineas and one guinearespectively. The handsome and massive silver cup donated by Mr C. Maxwell was made the prize for a special open handicap of 220 yards, entries for which would be received on the day of the sports. The District Traffic Manager, Railway Department, regretted that he could not grant excursion rates as requested, but expressed bis willingness to put additional passenger cars on the train which leaves Huntly for northern stations about 7 p.m. The ground and concert committees submitted encouraging reports, while a large amount of routine work was done.
