Lyceum Pictures

MINERS' HALL, TO-NIGHT. This week end the management of the above have provided a most interesting selection of screen plays for the amusement of their numerous patrons. To night the special attraction will be the Burns-O’Brien fight film and will be shown in conjunction with the usual star feature programme. This film is most interesting, not only because it shows the fight in which Tommy Burns gained the white championship of the world, but its value is enhanced seeing that it is the only copy in New Zealand and has not been seen except where the Lyceum Company have shown it. It will appeal especially to all those who take an interest in the noble art of self defence, and is well worth seeing. The star drama for this evening is entitled “The Little Tease,” and is certainly one of A.B.’s finest efforts. A fine Indian Drama for the boys is included and a superior collection of scenics, comedies and topicals of educational interest go to make up a programme of great variety. A large attendance no doubt will be the result of such a fine menu. The company announce for to-mor-row another special attraction in the star feature “ Theodora.” This is a stupendous and magnificent production by a full Parisian company, and Mdlle Sahary-Djeli takes the part of Theodora. It is one of Victorien Sardow's most famous romantic tragedies and is a faithful representation of ancient Roman history. Theodora was the wife of Justinian, one of the most famous of Roman Emperors of the near East, and she took a leading part in her husband’s affairs. How she did this will be shown on the screen tomorrow and Monday. The production is over 3000 feet long. Next Monday night Mr Fred. Knapper will sing " I’d Live or I Would Die For You.” This will be illustrated by 16 beautiful coloured slides. Saturday's programme will also be repeated on Monday.
