At the resumption of the Cronin trial, Joseph Dinnigan, -political correspondent for the Irish Press, -declined, as a matter of privilege, to disclose the official source whence ,he obtained confirmation of the news that members of Young Ireland Association would be allowed a short period io which lc cease membership. • The President disallowed .The plea of -privilege and -permitted Dinnigan to communicate with his editor, who said the disclosure would be a breach of confidence. Dinnigan therefore persisted in his refusal and was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for contempt of court. ■McEnery, the prosecutor, contended that Cronin’s conduct during the raid impeded the machinery of government. The hearing was concluded. Cronin’s parole was extended until the findings were promulgated.
