MOSCOW, Deee’iiioer 28. Relations with England at present were satisfactory despite the MetroVickers affair, declared M. Molotov, opening the Soviet Parliament. He added that their trade negotiations were proceeding normally. He contrasted Russia’s position as regards the principal powers, especially her improved relations towards France and Poland, with a threat as to the present attitude of Germany, and of Japan.
He paid a tribute to the League of Nations, adding that it had proved a brake on their warlike intentions. He declared that Japan feared cooperation between the Soviet and the United -States as to China and the Far East. Describing the recognition of the Soviet by the United States as an outstanding event, he referred to M. Litvinoff’r, part therein, which was accorded an ovation by the eight hundred delegates M„ Stalin spoke from a platform with a huge white bust of Lenin embowered in greenery, dominating the scenes. The guests include!! diplomats. There were crowds of shock workers from Moscow factories.
