In, Accordance with the. recent' Government decision to permit bookmakers to operate under certain conditions, twenty bookmakers were present at Port Adelaide Christmas race meeting. This is the first time for forty years that registered “bookies” have been allowed to follow their calling, .and "they "enjoyed ;a big .turnover/ The meeting was the most successful since the peak period of 1927.
