Thirteen deaths are reported aa result of floods covering parts or the States of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho and the Federal District .of Columbia. Thousands are homeless, fifteen towns are inundated, .and scores are isolated by the high water; Millions of dollars’ worth of property has been •damaged. Relief is being organised, but broken railway communications are -retarding it. There is a ray of hope ,in the weather forecast of lower temperatures whi;h would stem the floods through -freezing them. The low lands of Washington State were faced with most critical dingers last night from the floods which have threatened for ,a week. Virtually all the highways are blocked and dozens of small communities are completely isolated. Tacoma City, of 125,000 inhabitants, is hourly expected to be marooned.
Aberdeen (22,000) is inundated and is fearful of a typhoid epidemic.
In the meanwhile the steady downpour of rain continues. Many earth slides are harassing communities at the base .of the mountains.
