OAMARU, December 22

About two o’clock this afternoon James Vaile fell heavily from a spring cart, in Thames Street, .striking h:‘s head a severe blow, on the tar-seaTcd surface of the street! and receiving head injuries from which he died whilst being removed .in .nr ambulance to the hospital. A car following him apparently grazed a .portion of the cart in which -Vaile- was standing, Vaile ■ overbalancing and . falling to the street.

He was 63 years of age. He had been employed as a carrier by 'Mr James Cooney, produce merchant, for 49 years, giving faithful service during his long association wi;h his employer.
