AUSTRALIANS TO TOUR. STATE SECRETARY’S STATEMENT. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, December 20. ■Contrary to the resolution passed by' the State Amateur Athletic Association, Metcalfe, the champion, with the Tasmanian, Barwick, . will make a tour of New' Zealand, leaving Sydney on February 15. The secretary (Mr Heathwood)), said that' the Association did not debar Metcalfe and Hampson from making the trip.
-“We are fighting for the principle, and are not concerned with the individual. As a matter of fact we are trying to safeguard the athlete.”
