PROPOSAL BEFORE THE BOARD. FOR RESTORATION OF STATUS. (Per Pre 8S Association, Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, December 20. The new Traipway Board, which consists almost wholly of Labour members, will receive a recommendation at next meeting from its works committee that the members of the Tramways Union who were re-engaged after tho strike in May, 1932, be restored to the
seniority which they lost on their reengagement. If the recommendation is adopted, it will mean that several men now serving as conductors will he made motormen, and, in consequence, a corresponding number of motormen will lie reduced to bo conductors.
It i s stated, however, that the men reduced in status, will not suffer a reduction in pay.
