At 'the Magistrate’s Court, Grey-.; mouth, yesterday, Walter Henry' MiiK roy, single, aged 29 years, was charged that at Greymouth on December 16,. 1933, he did obtain ffim Haglund 8r05.,, go ( od s valued at 15s 2d, by falsely representing that he had been authorised to do so by the -Labour Department. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable E. J. 'O. Hay .stated that, on Saturday evening last, a telephone call was received at Haglund’s, purporting to be from 'Mr Davies, of the Labour Department, -authorising the film to give •goods valued at 15s to accused,' the account to be sent to the Labour Department. ' Half an hour later accused arrived, and collected the goods, taking them to his bach. None of the -.goods had been recovered. When questioned,, accused -admitted the false ,-pretence-. The S.M. said that, unfortunately, Mulroy had a very long list. He woum be sentenced to three months’ imprisonment in the Greymouth prison.
