CHRISTCHURCH, December 18. The Christchurch Unemployment Committee, to-day carried the following resolution:— ' ~ “This committee is strongly of c opinion that it is essential to reduce the number of men employed on >e No 5 -Scheme as early as possible. Lae Committee therefore requests the Unemployment Board, in conjunction with the Public Works Department to consider the possibility of the Foment of standard rates on certain public l works to be approved by tlm Board; the Government .be invited to forward a list of such public; works to tlie Board.
