“The accused was placed in a position of trust,.”- said the Magistrate, (Mr Orr-Walker), when sentencing Charles George Gibbs to 12 months’ reformative detention, concurrently on each of two charges of theft. Gibbs had been employed on relief work by the Defence Department and as platoon sergeant had access -to the ammunition. Fie pleaded, guilty to a charg'v of stealing 700 rounds of ammunition and electric lamps.'
