FINANCE BILL
SIXTY-ODD CLAUSES
MEASURE BEFORE THE HOUSE.

WELLINGTON, December 18.
There are sixty- tnree clauses in the Finance Bill (Number two) introduced in the House ot Representatives. The following are among the most important provisions:
Validation of the action by the Government last year in reducing pension allowances bet ore empowering legislation came into force on May 10, 1932. Tile bill makes the operation of authority retrospective to April 1, that year. Reduction ef ten per cent in totalisator duty during the financial year ended March 31, 1935. Renewing similar authority, given last year. Limitation of liabilty of employers for accidents due to earthquake, when the accidents are caused by fire in any building etc., or by fire resulting directly from an earthquake. Increase in the honorarium payable to the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives by £l6O per annum, bringing it to £504. Authority for County Councils’ purchase of sodium chlorate in bulk and to sell it or distribute it free for the destruction of noxious weeds in their areas.
Periodical revival, and extension at the instance of workers, of orders made by the Arbitration Court, fix ; iug the minimum rates of wages for female workers.
Provision for conditions of filne insurance policies to be subject to approval of the Government. They will contain only such provisions as are authorised by the Governor-General-in-Council.
Marine insurance policies covering loss by fire, are not affected .
