PLANS IN HAND
FEDERATED AERO CLUB MEETING
GBEYMOCTH, December 16.
The Federated West Coast Aero dub met last evening at Greymouth, there being present the following delegates: Messrs J. S. Allen, „E. H. Greenwood and Cressy (Westport), B. J. Cummings, J. Greene,' G’. B. Mclnroe and R. C. Hempseed (Ikamatua), H. T. Parry, P. Renton, A. H. NancekivelL W Bergaraini and 11. Preston (Hokitika), K. May, A. Peebles, H. Johnson, E, Best (South Westland), H. W. de Castro, A. J. McDtiwall, J. H. Brailsford and A. Kitchingham ■ (Greymouth;.
Mr H. ,de Castro was elected president of the Club. ; /
It was decided that a committee of the five secretaries of affiliated clubs act as the committee until the end of financial year. Mr A. H.'Brailsford was appointed secretary-treasurer, and Mr Renton assistant-secretary for the conduct of the South Island air pageant, which, at the offer of the N.Z. Club, it was decided to accept, and to | conduct at the Hokitika aerodrome some time in January or February next, the date to be later decided. Mr Brailsford submitted a comprehensive report on. the inauguration of ’the club. The following resolutions were passed : That application be made to the , Government for planes-for jffia club tori training purposes; that in connection with the pageant, the secretary consult the secretary of the N.Z. Club, tlio N.Z. Air Force, Mr Spence (President of.. the N.Z.A.0.), Mr B. Shiel (Vacuum'Oil Coy expert), the Shell Coy, the pilot instructors of the Canterbury and Wellington Air Clubs, and any other source from which assistance is obtainable; that the club apply for. participation in an art union on the ground that this area lias not yet received any financial assistance ; that the , Federated Club have a designed badge such that the name of each club may be inserted thereon, and that the Federated Club supply all of .the affiliated clubs with badges and equipment. ■
FLYING SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

A flying scholarship founded by the Wairarapa “Age,” in a competition with the Wairarapa and" Ruahine Aero- Club, has beenwon >by G. A. Cowie (Mas ter ton), ~ who becomes entitled to training for a license. 1 There was a keen 'mutest., particularly by six entrants selected to undergo extended tests. The winner'and several others showed great promise, and the competition has considerably stimulated interest in aviation in the district.
