TRAGEDY IN BULLER RIVER

WESTPORT, December 15

James Hannah, farmer, aged 50 years, married, with a. wife and two sons, was drowned in the Buller River albout 2.30 p.m. to-day, whilst crossing from his .farm on the east side to- a section he also owned on the west side of the river. He got ove r within 30 yards of the far bank, when he appeared to lose his footing. He was carried down stream, and sank. His body was recovered about two hours later.
