In the Sheffield Shield cricket match, against South Australia to-day, New South Wales in the first innings scored only 108. Fingletou was top scorer with 27. Bradman made one, and Kippax nine, In the howling, Tobin took 3 for 20, and Grimmett •2 for 17. South Australian in the first innings lost two xor 124. Nitschke is not out 67. Lonergan made 50, The New South Wales collapse is inexplicabe, as the wicket was easy, despite an early shower.
WELLINGTON PLUNKET TEAM

The Wellington Plunket Shield cricket team which will play Auckand at Wellington on December 23 -has been selected ns follows: Janies, Tindill, Dustin, u’Brien, Ell, Morgan, Lamason, Blundell, Crook, Freeman and Newman. Du Chateau is twelfth man.

A crowd of thirty thousand were present at the opening of the first test match at Bombay. Nayudu won the toss and India is batting. Wazir Ali and Navle opened, and at tea, India had lost- 5 for 170 (Wazir Ali 36). England’s team is Jardine, Walters, Valentine, Verity, Nichols, Mitchell, Clark, Barnett, Langridge Townsend and Elliott.
India in the first innings have lost lost 9 for 212 (Wazir Ali 36, Navle 13, Amaranth 38, Nayudu 28, Jai 19, Merchant 23. Colah 27 not out, Amar Singh 0, Nissar 13, Ramgi 1, Jamshedji not out 0. Extras 13.
COAST BOYS IN CHRISTCHURCH
CHRISTCHURCH, December 16
In the boys’ cricket, seniors. Greymouth scored 209 for seven declared, and Canterbury 224. Canterbury won. In the juniors, Hokitika made 124 and Canterbury 111, and 130 for seven. Hokitika won on the first innings.
